At the halfway point of our first school year, Generation Hope is celebrating the impact mentorship is having in Decatur County. With 120 students participating across four schools and 29 mentors faithfully serving each week, the program is creating ripple effects of hope, confidence, and character.
The results speak volumes:
100% of students said their mentor was understanding and supportive.
95% of students reported feeling more confident after just one semester.
95% said they feel more hopeful about their future.
100% gained a stronger understanding of the importance of character.
School liaisons are seeing the difference firsthand—fewer office referrals, improved behavior, better grades, and students stepping into leadership in the classroom. One student summed it up beautifully, saying, “He made me feel like I was a part of his family!”
“When students know someone is in their corner—someone who believes in them and walks alongside them—it changes everything. We’re not just helping kids make better grades; we’re helping them see a brighter future and equipping them with character that lasts a lifetime," Executive Director Alex Sefton said.
As Generation Hope moves into the second half of the year, the mission remains the same: connecting students with mentors who offer guidance, encouragement, and the hope needed to thrive—in school, at home, and in life.
